The Driver Was Outside. While 17-year-old Frederick L. Seyfried watched helplessly, a New York Central Railroad passenger train ploughed into his car stranded on the railroad tracks at the W. Delhi Rd. crossing this morning. The completely demolished automobile is shown above. The automobile had been caught on the tracks for 20 minutes, while Seyfried made futile attempts to move it.

VALUABLE PACKAGE IS HANDLED WITH CARE: When workmen started the job of moving the University's new telescope mirror from a freight car to the Observatory building they observed all the precautions warranted by the fact that the disk cost $14,000. The crated disk is shown being hoisted from the freight car to a truck at the New York Central freight yard.

Sitting at a desk in a small room just off the New York Central depot waiting room is P. H. Moss, 54, who has been a telegrapher for the railroad for nearly 45 years. Moss keeps in touch with Detroit and Jackson train dispatchers by special telephonic and teletype communication. He is due to retire this summer.
