Vernon H. Wozniak, 56, of Farmington escaped serious injury Tuesday after this truck he was driving was struck by a 35-mile-an-hour freight train, then shoved nearly 1/4 mile down the tracks. The collision occurred about 10 am near Sanford and Arkona roads just north of Milan. Wozniak's wife said today her husband suffered "some head lacerations, but he's just not up to talking about the accident." Police said Wozniak apparently ignored a stop sign guarding the crossing, and the engineer of the twin-locomotive train was unable to stop in time.
