Year:
1942
Published In:
Ann Arbor News, January 24, 1942
Caption:
Six-year-old Demetra A. Preketes had heard a lot about the war and the money needed for victory, so she said to her father, "Daddy, why can't I put my money in defense bonds and stamps and help Uncle Sam win?" Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony N. Preketes, 111 Fairview Ave., agreed, and yesterday Demetra invested her "$50 in American victory. She is shown at the Ann Arbor bank, accompanied by her father, as J. A. McMillan, a teller, gives her the bonds and stamps.
