JUST IN TIME FOR A CHRISTMAS TREE: Gretchen and her mother, Mrs. Walworth Rood Slenger of 718 Haven Ave., the former Margaret McComber are shown above. Gretchen was born on Dec. 7 and doesn't quite appreciate her first little Christmas tree. She is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred T. McOmber of Fair Oaks parkway and the great granddaughter of Otis H. McOmber and Elizabeth Minnis McOmber, both of whom were born here of pioneer families.

WASHTENAW COUNTY'S FIRST BUFFALO CALF: Believed to be the first Buffalo calf born in Washtenaw county, this five-day-old daughter of Caroline and John, cow and bull buffalo at Schrader's Buffalo ranch on N. Territorial Rd., in Salem township, has been christened "Ruth."
