Lester F. Bishop (left, above) piloted the first airmail plane onto Ann Arbor's new Municipal Airport this morning, inaugurating the local airmail service. C. P. "Ole" Oleson (right) is another pilot of the Thompson Aeronautical corporation who will fly on the Ann Arbor route. The plane pictured below is a Stinson-Detroit monoplane, equipped with a Wright Whirlwind motor, which is used in the new airmail system. The plane has a glass cabin for the pilot, fireproof compartments for mail with the door just forward of the lettering on the fuselage, and the word "Airmail" on the under surface of the wing.
