Formal Opening Of Sugar Bowl Slated Tuesday

Salon Music Will Be Provided During Dinner Hour

Put out of business by a $50,000 fire six months ago, the Sugar Bowl restaurant, operated by the Preketes brothers at 109-111 S. Main St., will hold its grand opening Tuesday.

The restaurant has been operating for almost a month, but the grand opening has been deferred until remodelling was completed and a full new staff obtained.

The restaurant will be open all day Tuesday, but a deluxe dinner will be served starting at 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. A string orchestra will provide salon music, and favors will be distributed.

The remodelled restaurant has a seating capacity of about 200 and is divided into a north and south section. There are two kitches, one a glassed-in, stainless steel short-order kitchen in the south section.

Lighting is indirect, and the walls are featured by raised block panelling of wood. The walls of the north section also have plaques executing a college-student theme. Seats are of white leather, red leather and mohair upholstery.

The restaurant has been in business for about 35 years. The four Preketes brothers are Charles, Paul, Frank and Anthony.
