Joins Law Firm Talbot Smith, former hearings administrator of the Office of Price Administration in Washington, has joined the law firm of Burke and Burke, and the partnership will be known in the future as Burke, Burke and Smith. Mr. Smith has been working in the law office here since January, when he resigned his Washington post. Burkes Take In New Partner Talbot Smith Becomes Member Of Law Firm Iso Dette crow law unit Talbot Smith, former hearing. administrator of the Office of Price Administration in Washington who has been practicing law in the firm of Burke and Burke of Ann Arbor since January, has entered the firm on a partnership basis, and beginning today the firm will be known as Burke, Burke and Smith. Announcement of the partnership came today, from Louis E. Burke and George Burke, original members of the firm. Mr. Smith was graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1934, and practiced law in Detroit with the firm of Monaghan, Crowley, Clark and Kellogg. He taught law for a four year period at the University of Missouri law school, and went to Washington to work in the OPA office shortly after its organization under Leon Henderson. In the early days of the OPA he was in charge of civil litigation and argued test cases on the constitutionality of the price act. He was later sent to the south west region of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Louisiana, where he served as regional attorney of the OPA in charge of legal work in that area. Later he was appointed hearing administrator of the OPA, in charge of all hearing commissions, and designated to hear all appeal cases. Mr. and Mrs. Smith and their son are living temporarily at 2002 Geddes Ave. A daughter, the! former Barbara Smith, who at. tended University high school, and who is now Mrs. George Capps, is living in the east, while her husband is serving as an officer on a submarine in the South Pacific. | Mr. Smith will engage in general law practice in the new firm.
