Mrs. Iva L. Stockwell, 75, of 816 McKinley Ave., died last night at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born May 12, 1879, in Litchfield, Mich., a daughter of Casper and Flora Sherk, and was married on May 12, 1899 to the Rev. Cyrus K. Stockwell, a Congregational Church minister. He died in 1919.
Mrs. Stockwell attended Hillsdale College and taught at Coldwater State School for two years.
She was a resident of Jackson from 1920 to 1925. During that time she was church secretary of the First Congregational Church there. She came to Ann Arbor in 1925 and had been a resident here since that time.
She was a former manager of the Mary Louise gift shop.
She became a member of the First Congregational Church here, a member of the Woman's Society of that church and its president in 1940. She was a member of the Washtenaw County Humane Society.
Mrs. Stockwell is survived by a daughter, Miss Priscilla T. Stockwell of Ann Arbor; a brother, Frank Sherk of Litchfield; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Muehlig Chapel, with the Rev. Leonard A. Parr officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Litchfield. Friends may call at the chapel.
