Islamic family is VIHP topic
“The Role of Women in the Traditional Islamic Family” is the Speech Dr. Rashid Bashshur will give to the Volunteers for International Hospitality in the University of Michigan International Center, at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at 603 E. Madison St. The speech follows the 11:30 a.m. social period and the noon lunch.
Born in Syria, Dr. Bashshur is a graduate of the American University of Beirut, and earned his doctorate in sociology at the University of Michigan. He is acting chairman of the Department of Medical Care Organization in the School of Public Health at the university.
VIHP is a community volunteer Organization which for 10 years has been cooperating with the International Center and the English Language Institute to inform, and offer hospitality to the thousands of foreign students and visitors who come to Ann Arbor each year.
A business meeting and election of officers will follow the luncheon, sponsored by the International Center and the English Language Institute.
