Quarterback Club to honor top Michigan senior athletes

Members of the Ann Arbor Quarterback Club will salute Butch WoolfoIk, Ron Merriott Paciorek when they gather for their annual meeting on May 25.

The three have been nominated by Michigan coaches for senior athlete of the year and will be honored at the 35th annual dinner of the club at the Barton Hills Country Club.

Woolfolk is Michigan’s all-time leading ground-gainer and a National Football League first-round selection by the New York Giants. Merriott is the National Collegiate Athletic Association champion in three-meter diving and Paciorek the superstar of the baseball team with an average well above .400.

Toastmaster for the dinner is Frank Beckman of WJR.

Quarterbacks also will meet and greet Athletic Director Don Canham and many of his coaches.

The $25 membership fee includes the dinner and tickets may be purchased from committee members of the Quarterback Club - Don Robinson, Don Naylor, Howard Wikel, Jack Carver, Bob Lovelace, Howard King, Clem Gill, Harlowe Olson, Bob Banfield, Jack Downes, Bill Graves, Bud VandeWege and Bud Stein.
