Somebody's talent for misspelling turned up again on N. Forest Ave. where new parking meter signs announce that "one penney" is required. The extra vowel appears in both of two signs in the block-long area, indicating at least a certain consistency of error. The meters in question are unique in Ann Arbor in that they are the only ones which will not accept nickels under any condition.

Ann Arborites, who have been impatiently waiting for new parking places, will be happy to see the foundation (top photo) of the E. Washington St.-Fourth Ave. carport ready. When finished in about 10 months, the carport will contain seven staggered levels, one underground. The carport will be attached to the Sheraton-Ann Arbor Motor Inn, which can be seen in the background. Below, two levels of the four-level carport at William and S. Fourth Ave. have been completed. When finished, the carport will contain 500 parkings spaces. The bottom photo was taken looking northeast from William St. toward S. Fourth Ave. The Masonic Temple is visible in the background.
