Learning In Style: Somehow, education is a little more fun when you're dressed in comfortable and new clothes. You look smart and the feeling is reflected in the classroom. Karolyn Scott and Jerry Brush Jr., schoolmaters at Abbot Elementary School and neighbors on Kuehnle Street, recently visited the new Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School. Here, in the library, they look over the selection of books and do a little brushing up on their geography before classes start at their school. Karolyn is wearing a tasty raspberry wool knit with a dropped waistline and pleated skirt. Her raspberry opaque tights accent her pilgrim-style shoes, the altest in the young girl look. Jerry's Scandinavian ski sweater is a hardy combination of greens and contrasting colors. He is also wearing the uncut corduroy pants which are noted for their wearability and neat appearance. Karolyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard G. Scott. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry A. Brush are Jerry's parents.

Fashions Score At School: The football season hasn't started, but the fashion game is in full swing at area schools. From left, Sabrina Blackwell, Patty Leake and Mary Gilleland visited the Pioneer High School football field and watched pre-season preparations. Sabrina is in a brown and beige cotton print complemented by a dark brown voile sash and beige opaque tights. Patty, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Leake of Iroquois Place, is a sophomore at Pioneer High School. She chose a black and white houdstooth check pant-skirt and set it off with a contrasting bright yellow slipover sweater. Visiting from Huron High School is Mary, wearing a charcoal grey pantskirt. A wide red belt catches the color of her bright red nylon blouse. The skirt is in wool and is complemented by large side pockets. Sabrina, in night graded at Forsythe Junior High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Blackwell of Wickfield Court. Mary is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Gilleland of Manchester Road. The girls are excited about the new fall fashions.

School Bus Waits: No school-bus driver would have the heart to pass by these lovely little misses in their new back-to-school fashions. On the top step is Stacie Wilson in a navy jumper with a turtleneck shell in navy and bright green. A chain belt (part of the "big-girl" look) accents the outfit. Patty Blackwell, on the next step down, is wearing a patchwork cotton overall dress over a cotton, wide-collared blouse. Shellie and Wendie Wilson, Stacie's sisters, look school-bell bright in their new outfits. Shellie is wearing a patriotic red, white and blue one-piece jumper. The skirt is red, the top is white and the scarf is navy with white polkadots. Wendie's shift in light beige features brown horizontal stripes. The Wilson girls live with their mother, Mrs. Harold Wilson, on Prairie Street. Stacie and Shellie are at Thurston Elementary School and Wendie is in nursery school. Patty is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Blackwell of Wickfield Court. She attends Northside Elementary School.

Gals Start With 'Smarts': College-bound Martha Mann, above, (she's a freshman at Western Michigan University) set her heavy suitcases down long enough to pose in this casual outfit. For her campus debut, she chose a brown and beige wool check skirt that buttons down the front and topped it off with a brown wool sweater and an eggshell white blouse. Her brown opaque stockings -- very popular again this fall -- complete the outfit. Martha is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Mann of Granger Avenue.
