The widow and parents of Pfc. Daniel Illi, who became the 19th area serviceman to lose his life in the Vietnam struggle, pay their respects to the fallen soldier on this day commemorating the war dead. The Army veteran's wife, Mrs. Shirley (Smith) Illi of 1229 White, places a plant on the grave of her husband. Behind her are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin G. Illi of 428 Eberwhite. The 21-year-old GI was killed Nov. 1 while serving with the First Cavalry at An Khe. He is buried at Bethlehem Cemetery on Jackson Rd. He was a 1964 Ann Arbor High School graduate.
