Rescue Efforts Fail: With smoke billowing out of the house, city firemen struggled in vain to rescue a 4-year-old boy and a 56-year-old woman trapped on the second floor of this flaming house at 742 Fountain. Michael Brown, 4, and Mrs. Essie Logan, 56, were dead on arrival at University Hospital. The fire was discovered just before 11 p.m. yesterday.
