Tasty Garden Show preview planned

If you’re looking for a taste of spring - or a taste of France, Italy and Spain - plan to attend the opening gala Wednesday of the 1992 Ann Arbor Flower and Garden Show. The gala will set the mood for the flower and garden show, which opens Thursday at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds in Saline. The opening gala offers a strolling violin, a mariachi band and accordion music, as well as food, beer, wine and a peek at the flower show. It runs from 7 to 9 p.m. The Willow Run Community School District Food Service Department will prepare 4,000 hors d’oeuvres with a French twist, including chocolate eclairs, tarts and chocolate-covered strawberries. Zingerman’s will provide cheese, sausage and bread. Paesano’s will contribute food from Italy and Food for All Seasons will offer food from Spain. O & W Inc. is also furnishing food. For ticket information, call the botanical gardens at 998-7061. Tickets are $25. Both the gala and the flower show benefit the University of Michigan’s Matthaei Botanical Gardens.
