Sanford McKinney, a longtime Ann Arbor businessman and owner of Sanford's Shoe Repair at 200 E. Kingsley, died Tuesday at his home after a short illness. He was 67. McKinney, who lived at 420 N. Fourth Ave., had resided in Ann Arbor for 45 years. He had come here from North Carolina. He held several state and local Masonic offices, and was a member of the Bethel AME Church of Ann Arbor and of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He was a 33rd Degree Mason. McKinney is survived by his wife, the former Mabel Jones; a son, Larry McKinney of Toledo; a brother, George B. McKinney of Detroit; a sister, Mrs. Ella Humphrey of Detroit, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Beth el AME Church, with the Rev John A. Woods and Elder B. T. Rimson officiating. Burial will be at United Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Lucille's Funeral Home, Ypsilanti, after 7 p.m. today.
